Police preliminary investigation reveals that Dalton L. Power, 40, was speeding in a Dodge Charger westbound on Brookpark while under the influence of alcohol. Police say Dalton collided with the rear of a Kia SUV, which was also traveling westbound on Brookpark. The Kia then lost control and struck a utility pole.
According to police, Power failed to remain at the scene, traveling to Brookpark and Pearl before coming to rest on a tree lawn.
Police say a male and female in the Kia were both wearing seatbelts, but were seriously injured and taken to MetroHealth Hospital. The male is confined in serious condition, but the female was pronounced dead.
The Medical Examiner has identified the female victim as Wyvies Adorno, 56, of Cleveland.
Power reported no injuries and was booked in connection with aggravated vehicular homicide and felony leaving the scene of an accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
