A 23-year-old woman involved in a deadly altercation appeared in a Cleveland courtroom Friday morning.

Sandie C. Sanderson was in court on aggravated vehicular homicide charges in the death of a local boxing standout, Cashmere Jackson, 26.  Jackson was a rising female boxing standout. Five-time Golden Glove Champ on track to qualify for the Olympics at one time.

According to police, there was an altercation between women in the parking lot of the Shell Gas Station at 2625 East 55th Street. During the fight, Sandie C. Sanderson, 23, was driving a Pontiac Grand Am and gently rear-ended a Chevrolet Impala, driven by Shatai N. Jefferson, 26.

Police say Jackson was the passenger of the Impala, and when she got out of the car, Sanderson drove toward her. Jackson then jumped onto the hood, and Sanderson drove out of the parking lot onto East 55th, heading southbound with Jackson still on top.

Eventually, police say Sanderson's Pontiac veered across the double yellow line and Jackson fell off the hood. The Pontiac then collided head-on with another Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 68-year-old male, who was stopped in the left turn lane.

Police say Jackson then rolled onto East 55th and was run over by a Honda Accord, driven by a 62-year-old male, who was traveling northbound.

When officers responded to the area, they found Jackson in the street. Police say she sustained serious injuries and was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center, where she died.

Sanderson remains in jail on a $45,000 bond.
