Allegiant Air to offer flights to Fort Lauderdale, Phoenix

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A major expansion at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is in the works.

Allegiant Air announced Tuesday that they will add nonstop service from CVG to Fort Lauderdale and Phoenix.

Service to Fort Lauderdale will begin October 9 and service to Phoenix will begin November 12.

The Las Vegas-based company also announced that it will be adding additional weekly flights to Orlando, St. Pete and Punta Gorda. Allegiant officials say this addition will more than double Allegiant's presence at CVG, increasing from seven weekly flights to 18.

The new flights to Fort Lauderdale will operate four times a week between CVG and FLL and the new flights to Phoenix will operate twice a week between CVG and AZA.

According to Allegiant, Cincinnati is the fastest growing market in the company's 15-year history.

HOW THE PRICES COMPARE

For a roundtrip Allegiant flight to Fort Lauderdale priced Tuesday afternoon, the initial advertised price summed up to about $140.

Taxes, carrier charges and government fees add about $50. Seats are $10 per flight. Allegiant also charges for bags, $26 for a carry-on and $40 for a checked bag.

The grand total is $276 for the flight to and from Fort Lauderdale.

Delta's advertised prices Tuesday afternoon were $364 for the same round trip.
