Escaped inmate found at Westwood apartment

WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

The inmate who escaped the Hamilton County Justice Center by using a fake identity has been taken into police custody.

Chris Bowden, 20, was captured at 6 p.m. Tuesday at a Westwood apartment after being on the run for one week. The apartment is located on Wendee Drive and belongs to Jessica Bowden, the inmate's sister.

Police say Bowden was arrested without incident and no weapons were recovered.

Jessica Bowden and her boyfriend Theron Gardner were arrested along with Robert Bowden, the inmate's brother, and Amber Howard, the inmate's girlfriend, according to police. They are charged for their involvement in harboring and concealing Bowden.

Bowden is charged with escape, a second degree felony.

Bowden was awaiting a court appearance when he left the justice center July 1. He was sentenced to 10 years in the Ohio Department of Corrections for aggravated robbery.

Using the identity of fellow inmate Darius Dabney, authorities said Bowden was released and walked right out of the building. Dabney was held on drug trafficking charges and now faces an additional complicity to escape charge.

Authorities say Bowden is being questioned before they transfer him back to the Hamilton County Justice Center.
