(WMC) - A Mid-South woman shared her story of an alleged vicious attack inside of a Beale Street nightclub. The man at the center of a sexual battery investigation: the son of a prominent Illinois state politician.

The politician is President of the Illinois State Senate John Cullerton. His 26-year-old son spent part of Independence Day on Beale Street and behind bars.

What Emily Moss says happened to her early Friday morning inside Club 152 was anything but fun.

Memphis Police charged Carroll Cullerton, 26, of Chicago with sexual battery for allegedly fondling Moss on the third floor Friday morning. She had just gotten off work when she says Cullerton started dancing too closely.

"I scooted away and said 'Please don't do that, I'm not comfortable with this, I don't know you,'" alleged victim Emily Moss said. "Five seconds later, he unzips my dress."

The affidavit states Cullerton unzipped the victim's dress, exposing her bra to a crowded bar, then ran his hands between the victim's breasts.

"You can't come up and unzip someone's clothing, especially in your chest area," Moss noted.

Through some research, WMC Action News 5's reporter Jason Miles discovered Cullerton's political connections. Moss says Cullerton even told club security and police about his political ties.

"I guess he thought that was okay and he could get away with that. I'm not sure," Moss said. "Especially when you tell people ‘stop, don't do that,' and they do it anyway."

Cullerton bonded out of jail on Friday night. Carroll Cullerton did not comment while leaving a Memphis courtroom Monday morning. His case was reset for July 30.

The office of Cullerton's father shared a statement with NBC Chicago, which reads simply, "This incident is unrelated to state business or the office of the Senate President."
