City workers union approves new three-year contract

The largest union representing city of Toledo workers, approved a new three year contract on Friday night.

The contract still has to be approved by city council, but members of AFSCME Local 7 approved the contract with about 70 percent of the members voting in favor.

The 800 workers in the Local 7 will get one and a half percent pay raises in each of the three years, but will have to pay all of the 10 percent contribution to the Public Employees' Retirement System or PERS.

Union President Don Czerniak says there are no changes to what employees would have to pay for health care.

City Council could give final approval to the contract on Tuesday.
