Man shot in north Toledo, found by nearby Vietnam veteran

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A man was shot in north Toledo Friday June 27 morning on Mettler near Warsaw. Deontae McCorvey was walking on his way to work when four men pulled up beside him. He said they robbed him and then shot him.

McCorvey was loaded into an ambulance after he was shot in the arm. Luckily there was a Good Samaritan nearby.

"It was 6:30. I was eating my breakfast and I heard 5 gunshots. I looked out the back window and there was a black man sitting there. I asked if he was ok. He said ‘no I just got shot,'" said Gary Rogolski.

The victim told police four men in a grey Chrysler stopped him. He said they demanded money and took the $300 dollars he had. Then the driver of the car pulled out a large hand gun and fired as McCorvey ran away.

Rogolski, a Vietnam veteran, says his first instinct was to help.

"I told him to sit down and try to stay calm. I got him a couple rags to help control the bleeding, got him some water. I tried to keep him as calm as I possibly could," said Rogolski.

This is an ongoing investigation. If you saw anything at Mettler and Warsaw Friday morning, police would like to hear from you. You can call Crimestopper at 419-255-1111. You can remain anonymous and help get these guys off the street.
