Parma Police Department is seeking the public's assistance with finding the male suspect who shot one person during an armed robbery of a Parma bar early Wednesday morning.

DISPATCHER: "Parma's 911. What is the address of your emergency?"

CALLER: "5587 Ridge Road. I just had shots fired at Piffels Pub on Ridge Road."

19 Action News obtained security footage from inside the bar as the robbery was happening. At approximately 1:55 a.m., the unidentified suspect walked into Piffels Bar and brandished a handgun. Officers say he aimed the gun at several customers sitting at the bar and demanded money. The suspect then pistol whipped a patron.

A female employee fled from the bar to call for help, but the male suspect caught up with her and forced her back inside the bar.

Investigators say John Walker, 59, of Parma, armed himself with a pool stick to see if she was alright. But when he dropped the pool stick and turned his back, the gunman shot him in the hip.

DISPATCHER: "Parma's 911. What's the address of your emergency?"

CALLER: "I need an ambulance at Piffels. Virginia and Ridge Road. I got a guy shot here, man."

The male suspect then forced the employee to hand over money from the business. After the employee adhered to his demands, the suspect fled the scene.

Witnesses report seeing the suspect getting into the passenger side of a dark blue mid-sized passenger car driven by an unidentified individual. The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on Virginia Avenue.

Walker was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center. He is listed in critical condition.

Officers say the male suspect had a mask covering his face, but he was described as possibly a black male, thin build, wearing a dark-colored hoodie and dark-colored pants.

Anyone with information related to this incident and/or the identity of the persons responsible for this crime is asked to call Detective Jeff Wells at 440-887-7343.
