Restaurant Ratings Report: Sushi restaurant does not thaw raw fish properly

A sushi restaurant is working to correct a long list of violations from the health department including raw fish not being thawed properly.

Spicy Tuna on Airport Highway racked up 24 violations during a visit by inspectors on June 6. They noted a trash can used as a work surface and holding container for chicken. Raw meat and eggs were also stored above vegetables, which is a violation. Some items like cream cheese were being stored at an improper temperature and egg rolls had no expiration date.

Date labeling was also an issue for Dos Hermanos in Oregon on South Wheeling during a visit from the Health Department on June 3. There were 14 violations, including raw meat being stored above ready to eat foods. Also meat was at an unsafe temperature. Employees were also seen using single use gloves for multiple purposes without changing them in between.

A gold star for Wendy's on east Alexis Road in Toledo. It was violation free during a visit in the end of May.

The original Gino's on Dussel Drive in Maumee has some room for improvement. Inspectors noted 5 violations, including unsafe temperatures in the buffet.

The Tilted Kilt on Maple Street in Maumee had 8 violations during a visit May 23. These included raw and cooked chicken being stored at an unsafe temperature, raw chicken above ready to eat foods, and food on the floor of the walk-in cooler.

Happy Hour Saloon on Eleanor in Toledo was violation free.
