FOSTORIA, OH (Toledo News Now) - A woman accused of setting a blaze that claimed the life of a deaf Fostoria man and another woman was in court Monday morning, along with the two men accused of helping her commit the crime.
Danny Joe Marker, 48 and Tara Lynn Vance, 44, were killed in the fire that destroyed Marker's South Poplar Street home early on the morning of May 26. Marker was deaf and partially blind. Dana Weatherall, 49, was taken to a Toledo hospital by air ambulance after the fire, but survived.
Shey Weiker, Charles Schaeffer and Timothy Hall have all been arrested and charged in relation to the fire. Court documents allege Weiker threw the flare onto the porch of Marker's South Poplar Street home. The same documents say Schaeffer showed Weiker how to light the flare. Hall is accused of throwing the strike cap of the flare into a nearby sewer.
Weiker, 31, is charged with 4 counts of aggravated arson, 2 counts of aggravated murder, 1 count of attempted aggravated murder, and 1 count of tampering with evidence. Weiker's bond was set at $2 million on Monday.
Schaeffer, 44, is charged with 4 counts of complicity to commit aggravated arson, 2 counts of complicity to commit aggravated murder, and 1 count of complicity to commit attempted aggravated murder. Schaeffer's bond was set at $1.5 million.
Hall, 20, is charged with tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice. Hall's bond was set at $50,000.
"Honestly we need to be upping our security in this town if stuff like this is happening. We need to have more leads and be able to talk to different people. You hear this, you hear that, you know," said Fostoria resident John Contreras.
All three suspects are set to be arraigned in Seneca County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday.
