Rossford Fire Dept. relying on loaner ambulance

Reporting by Vanessa Fayz - The Rossford Fire Department is borrowing an ambulance to help with runs while its permanent vehicle is being refurbished.

RFD has been operating with a single medic unit for about six weeks.  The medic unit being refurbished will be in the shop for another four to five weeks, and the department considers relying on one vehicle to be too risky.

"We, knock on wood, have not had more than one call for service in a row," says Rossford Fire Chief Josh Drouard.  "If this vehicle were to break down or get in an accident or we get multiple calls for service, that's where it becomes the biggest benefit of all."

The Fire Department will return the loaner unit to Burgess Hearse and Ambulance when their original vehicle is brought back.
