PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Southwest region Hotshot crews who fought the 21,000-acre Slide Rock Fire in Oak Creek Canyon are paying it forward to the northern Arizona community with supplies of food and water.

The Hotshots teamed with Flagstaff Area National Monuments, the Coconino National Forest and other federal agencies to donate two pickup trucks filled with more than 1,000 pounds of apples, oranges, beef jerky, fruit juice boxes, dried bananas, oatmeal and other items to St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance on Friday, said Jerry Brown of the food bank alliance.

The food was left over from spike camps and other areas that are being broken down with the fire now more than half contained.

As of Saturday evening the human-caused Slide Burn had burned 21,227 acres. The fire is 90 percent contained.

St. Mary's will distribute the crew's donation to agency partners in northern Arizona.

The food alliance provided bottled water and sports drinks, assorted snack foods and baby wipes to first responders when the Slide Fire was at its height last week.

Oregon's Kifar Yosemite, a Southwestern Region Type 1 Hotshot crew member, said more and more Hotshot teams are giving back by donating any unused supplies to help those in need.

"When you deal with tragedies all the time, it's great to give back and do something positive for the area," he said.

Yosemite fought fires with and personally knew several of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots who died in the Yarnell Hill Fire last summer.

"That was a difficult day for all of us," Yosemite said. "We miss those guys. It feels good to leave Arizona under much better circumstances this time."

After double overtime, the Toledo Walleye came out on top and beat the Indy 3-2 Thursday night for a sweep in the series. Even though the fish had a 3-0 lead in the first round playoff series, the toughest thing to do in hockey is to beat a desperate team on their home ice.  Halfway through a second overtime Kyle Bonis sets up Christian Hillbrich to score the game winning goal.  The Walleye now advances to the second round.
