TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Corporal Harold Reed is finally home.
In 1950, he was killed in the Korean War.
On Saturday, Corporal Reed was buried at the Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
The Toledo native had been buried with several hundred unidentified Korean War veterans in Hawaii.
But D-N-A evidence provided by his brother-in-law Bill Power recently identified Harold's remains.
"He's finally where he should be. He's not somewhere thousands of miles away in an unmarked grave," said Bill.
A funeral procession slowly made its way through Memorial Park taking Harold's remains to a final resting spot.
Family and friends attended the solemn ceremony.
Many veterans also came to honor Harold.
"Because if you forget the veterans you forget who allowed us to become the people we are today," said Doc Roth.
There were no speeches or prayers.
Harold was given full military honors.
Sitting graveside was Dorothy Sobczak.
She was married to Harold for five years before he died and was presented with the flag covering his casket.
"I don't know what to say. I'm glad to have it," said Dorothy, fighting back tears.
Dorothy has happily re-married and had lost touch with the Reed family.
She learned of Harold's remains being identified and returned in a news report, eerie because she had a recent vision about him.
"Like I said. I saw him in a picture window. He came to me," said Dorothy.
Harold was buried next to his mother Mildred and sister Millicent.
Bill tossed a handful of dirt on the grave.
He describes this day as 'complete.'
"I've had so many people say 'Leave him where he is. He's with his buddies.' Buddies are buddies but family is forever and he's now forever with his family," said Bill.
