Four teachers in Rossford School District are losing employment due to finances

ROSSFORD, OH (Toledo News Now) -

School officials say four teachers in the Rossford School District are losing their jobs, decided recently by the Board of Education. Officials from the school district say that the reasoning behind the layoffs is strictly financial and a big part of those problems stems from a declining enrollment.

"It's very upsetting because we have made a lot of good relationships with the teachers and I know the students have as well. The board has not put forth the names of who is being let go," said parent Ken Boggs.

At this time we don't know which teachers are being laid off, but we do know that two of the teachers work in kindergarten through third grade, one works in fourth through ninth grades and the other is a high school teacher.

"You lose teachers then you implement a reading program that is going to cost the district several thousands of dollars, so you found money for a new reading program, but in turn we have to let teachers go," said parent Dave Misko.

The four teachers will be let go on August 31.
