BRYAN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

There is a story behind every picture. The story behind a picture posted on our Facebook wall is just as heartwarming as the photo itself.

Saturday May 10, Jesse Dennis took his daughter to her prom. While he doesn't remember most of it because of the excitement, it's something he'll never forget. They say pictures are worth more than a thousand words. To Dennis, it was one of the proudest days of his life.

"I don't really remember a whole lot other than people crying, and laughing and cheering and clapping and looking at her and she's smiling the whole time," said Dennis.

Dennis isn't Emily's biological father, but he's been with her for the last 10 years while in a relationship with her mom, Jill.

"She's my little girl as far as I'm concerned," said Dennis.

Emily, a 17-year-old junior at Bryan High School has Rett syndrome. It's a neurodevelopment disorder that causes her to regress. She can no longer speak or walk, and dancing at her prom wouldn't be possible. But Dennis wasn't going to let her miss it. So, he took her.

"I knew that I wanted her to go. Every little girl should go to a prom," said Dennis.

The pictures of the two, as Dennis escorts Emily into the Bryan prom, only scratch the surface of what the night meant to the both of them.

"I wanted to see her reaction and I think she was wanting to see my reaction because every picture we was looking at each other and both smiling," said Dennis.

The two are described as being two peas in a pod, best buddies.

"They finally played a slow song by Keith Urban, 'Falling in love in the back of cop car.' She was sleeping but we still danced. She don't remember it, but I will," said Dennis.

Dennis admits he's been wrapped around Emily's finger for 10 years.

"It was a good time. I would definitely do it again," said Dennis.

We think they're both okay it stays that way.
