This stay of unusually warm October weather has a countdown to cool. Highs will stay in the 70s and even reach to just shy of record 80s on Saturday before it all comes to a close. The end of the warmth begins late Sunday evening as showers sweep across the Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. This late weekend system will be just the start to a cooler pattern next week; that will bring our coolest temperatures of the season so far.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Lucas County commissioners have thrown their support behind gay marriage. During a news conference on Tuesday morning, they joined forces with the organization Why Marriage Matter's Ohio.

Commissioner Pete Gerken was the first to speak and said he witnessed his son marry his partner of 17 years in Washington, D.C. Gerken wants to see that right exercised now in the state of Ohio, beginning in Lucas County.

The county commissioners have joined forces with Why Marriage Matters Ohio to announce their support in legalizing gay marriage in the Buckeye State.

Gerken says it's about doing onto others as you would want done onto you. His hope is one day to see his son remarry his partner in Ohio.

"I shouldn't have had to travel to take my family to Washington, D.C., for my son to exercise his right of that basic human condition of marriage to someone he loves," said Gerken.

One Toledo same-sex couple says this support is a step in the right direction and they hope more will follow their lead.

"How they're taking a stand for us, it really means a lot, and we're moving in the right direction," said Jacqueline Quinones.
