Toledo Adopt-a-Park program up and running

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The city of Toledo's adopt a park program is underway, and Councilman Steve Steel says community members in east and west Toledo have already stepped up to take care of some of their parks.

Steel says the city's tight budget has hit the parks and recreation department. Now the city is asking residents, associations, clubs and other organizations to take care of their parks by mowing, plating flowers, picking up trash and more.

"The bottom line is, we're looking for every park in every neighborhood, you know. Any group or any set of individuals that want to get together and support their parks. That's what this is all about," said Steele.

For additional information on the Adopt-a-Park program contact Dennis Garvin, Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Forestry at 419-245-3357.
