TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted says he's had enough with the Lucas County Board of Elections. He spoke out Wednesday May 7 after Tuesday night's problems.

It took all night and some of Wednesday morning to get results back on the small primary.

Husted already put together the transparency committee to help figure out the board's problems. He says he's disappointed in the situation that's developed at the Board of Elections and it must be fixed.

The slew of problems included the fact that official results didn't roll in until about 6:00 Wednesday morning, making it a long night for those waiting to hear the results.

Board members and the director have not responded to calls.

Michael Beazley, a former Lucas County Board of Elections Director says when you bring thousands of people together to run an election, things will come up, but it's all about coming together to solve those problems.

Beazley says confidence in local government begins with confidence in the elections system.

"Running the election system is really about process flow management, system development, but most important is recognizing things will go wrong. And ways of finding out what's going wrong and have work around for it or ways to detect it, react to it, respond to it and get people to work to solve it," said Beazley.

In a statement released late Wednesday afternoon released by Press Secretary Matt McClellan, Husted said,

"The board is seemingly incapable of overcoming petty differences and personal issues in order to solve problems. The situation must be fixed. The transparency committee will meet again and the secretary has asked that recommendations be submitted to him as soon as possible."

Husted will wait for those recommendations before taking any action.
