Fostoria restaurant raided due to lack of valid liquor license

FOSTORIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

After a short investigation, state agents went to the Los Tocallos Bar and Restaurant in Fostoria Thursday May 1 night after it was discovered that the establishment was operating without a valid liquor license.

Last month, an anonymous caller tipped off the Ohio Investigative Unit that the bar was serving without a liquor license. An undercover detective went into the bar and bought an alcoholic drink. Next the unit checked with Columbus and found that the bar's liquor licenses had lapsed and was not renewed.

The raid Thursday night was to remove all alcohol from the premises and any money acquired from any illegal sale of alcohol. No other criminal activity is being investigated, but officials wanted to hold the bar accountable for not following procedure.

"You have businesses that are doing everything proper and by the law. And whenever you have an establishment that is not, and doing things against what everyone else is supposed to be doing, it's just not fair for everybody else," said Raymond Rodriguez, agent in charge, Ohio Investigative Unit.

Calls made to the bar went unanswered. Official charges will be brought before the Seneca County Prosecutor once the investigation is complete.
