Police are investigating Monroe County semi crash, waiting on autopsy results

MONROE COUNTY, MI (Toledo News Now) -

Wednesday April 30 a semi accident left one person dead and two with minor injuries as two tractor trailers went up in flames. The deadly crash shut down I-75 North and South near the Dunbar Road overpass for several hours as crews put out the flames and cleaned up debris on the highway.

Michigan State Police say the investigation is challenging, given the remaining evidence and the condition of the semi after it caught fire. Police are looking at a few possibilities.

First, police are waiting on autopsy results on Kevin Dake, 43, of Bloomington, Illinois. Lieutenant Tony Cuevas says that will reveal if Dake suffered a medical condition causing him to lose control of his truck. Police are also familiar with Dake's Facebook page and are looking to see if that will help them out in any way in the investigation.

As they await the results of the autopsy, Lieutenant Cuevas says they will continue investigating the accident.
