TIFFIN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A former Tiffin City Parks Director has been indicted on sex charges.

Steve Dryfuse was fired by the city of Tiffin in early March. The reasons for his firing were not explained at the time.

Seneca County Prosecutor Derek Devine says the city asked the Ohio Attorney General's Office to investigate a complaint against Dryfuse.  That case was presented to a Seneca County Grand Jury on Wednesday, April 30.

The grand jury returned an indictment charging gross sexual imposition.

Dryfuse turned himself in to the Seneca County Jail Wednesday night. He appeared in court Thursday for a bond hearing. Details of the case have not been fully released, but in court it was stated that the alleged sexual contact occurred sometime between 1999 and 2002, before Dryfuse was an employee of the city.

The city of Tiffin released the following statement on the matter:

On February 14, 2014, the Mayor and the City Administrator met with a Special Agent of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) of the Ohio Attorney General's office, and received evidence from an investigation involving Steve Dryfuse having sexual contact with a minor that occurred in 1999 prior to his employment with the City. The investigation was ongoing. The City Administrator and the Mayor met again with the Special Agent on February 17, 2014 and received additional information from the BCI.  Based on the information and evidence received from BCI's criminal investigation and the nature of the job duties of the Parks and Recreation Director position, the City terminated Mr. Dryfuse's employment with the City effective immediately on February 17, 2014.

The victim did not appear in court, but was confirmed to be a male, and was under the age of 18 at the time. He brought the allegations to Tiffin Police this past winter.

Dryfuse's bond was set at $10,000 and he has been ordered to have no contact with the victim or any minors that are not family members.

An arraignment hearing has been set for Thursday May 8.
