Local teen battling leukemia surprised with truck

HOLLAND, OH (Toledo News Now) -

19-year-old Mitch Roeserthought his truck was going into the shop for new break sensors, but when hepicked it up Wednesday, he found his local car shop have given it a muchbigger, tougher upgrade.

"We wanted to do somethingright for the kid," said Sean Bell of Diversified Truck, Auto andOff-Road.  "He seems like a great person."

Roeser is battlingleukemia, and when the guys at Diversified Truck in Holland found out, they jumped in togive him something to smile about.

"I heard it first," saidRoeser.  "Then I saw this big truck comeout and my jaw dropped."

"He had no clue ofanything going on," said Mitch's father Bob Roeser.

Thousands of dollars inparts and labor were donated to the truck.

"Bob told me that Mitchlooked him in the eyes and said ‘Dad, I want a truck that looks just as toughas all those other leukemia patients are'," said Bell.

Surrounded by friends andfamily Wednesday, Mitch got that leukemia-tough truck.

"I wanted to showappreciation to all cancer patients and have a truck be a symbol of toughness,"said Mitch.  "I couldn't be more happywith it."

The family is calling itthe ‘Tougher than Cancer' truck, and they say they can't thank those whodonated time and money to this project enough.
