TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Amber Hayes took the stand in the murder trial of David Zielinski on Tuesday, April 29, explaining to a jury how she says Zielinski, her ex-husband, shot and stabbed her boyfriend Michael Jackson to death.

Hayes testified that she began dating Zielinski in 2012, and that the two were married in June of 2013. Hayes told the jury by the end of that month, their relationship was over. That is when Hayes says she began dating Jackson.

The defense pointed out that divorce or separation papers were never filed. Hayes argued that despite this, Zielinski knew their relationship was over.

Hayes went on to tell the jury about the night she says Zielinski killed Jackson.

"He was behind me and shots were being fired. He shot my front passenger window and then he shot behind the car," said Hayes.

Hayes was not shot, but was injured in the incident.

Closing arguments are expected to begin in the case on Wednesday.
