HOLLAND, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Lucas County Coroner's Office has confirmed that the body found Sunday April 27 in Holland is that of missing 84-year-old Adamae Schooner.

The Coroner says an autopsy for Schooner has been scheduled.

Police say the body was discovered in a drainage ditch in the back of an industrial park on Angola Road near Hamilton Drive on Sunday evening, April 27.

Sunday around noon Schooner went missing from her Village Meadows apartment in Holland.

Monday, family members say they are sharing their pain as a lesson to others.

Family members say they were worried because of her dementia so they started a search effort. Several hours later police joined in and that's when they found her body.

The family says her death is a tough pill to swallow but they want people to be aware of the severity of dementia.

"You need to look after them constantly. Just look at the little time we were away and you see what happened," said daughter Debbie Carter.

Family members say she was about 100 pounds and a little over 4 feet tall. They say she was a small person with a huge heart.

"Living with people like this is hard every day but what's important is to remember you're not alone. Everybody deals with this," said Amy Carter.

Police say they don't suspect foul play to be involved. According to the Lucas County Coroner's Office the cause of death has not been determined.

Steven Jackson is following up on this story, and will have more tonight on WTOL 11 News at 5 and 6.
