It was a trip to forget for the Indians as the Giants dealt them three losses in three days, punctuated by a walk-off homerun on Sunday, April 27 in San Francisco. A great start by Danny Salazar was wasted.
Things were looking good in the eighth when Yan Gomes drilled a solo shot to left, tying the game at 1. But Cody Allen, who did his job in the bottom half of the inning, made the costly mistake in the ninth as he gave up a three-run bomb to Brandon Hicks to do in the Tribe 4-1.
Even worse, the walked Brandon Crawford intentionally to get to Hicks. The run was the first one Cody Allen had allowed in 12 games, as he took the loss (2-1)
The defeat stung for Salazar, as he went seven strong innings, giving up just five hits while striking out eight and walking one.
The Indians continue their road trip in Anaheim on Monday against the Angels, Justin Masterson will get the start
