FOSTORIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Fostoria community will have the chance to see galleries of artwork created by their own school students.

Sunday April 27 is the Fostoria Schools Fine Arts Festival. Teachers say they all agree that art plays an integral part in a student's overall education.

The show features all kindergarten through grade 12 artwork created over the school year. Art pieces on display include paintings, ceramics, and 3D design.

Art teachers say they know how important art lessons are for students, as it gives a practical application of the other lessons learned in school like math, critical thinking and even some chemistry.

"I think it is the great connector. It is the thing that binds all of their core subjects together," said art teacher Deborah Melroy.

Students taking part in the festival say they are happy to have a chance to show their art to the community.

"You're bringing the eye to something that really loses focus in a lot of schools around the area," said Fostoria junior Connor Cooper.

The festival runs from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday April 27, followed by a music recital.
