TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

This Sunday is the Medical Mutual Glass City Marathon. The University of Toledo's campus will be filled with thousands of people. Runners will tackle the more than 26-mile course, which starts and ends at the Glass Bowl.

Technology will be key to Sunday's run. Now you can follow all runners, no matter where they are on the course.

As your favorite runner makes their way through the 5K, half-marathon and marathon course, you can track them with a mobile app all the way to the finish line.

Family, friends and spectators will be able to have an even better experience thanks to the RaceJoy app. A man who has ties to Toledo, created it with his father.

"I've been doing triathlons for a long time, and my wife has missed me so many times at so many events, you know? It's been a passion for us to bring a better way for family to know what's happening, not only for ourselves, but for other athletes," explained James Harris, creator of the app.

Toledo has a long and storied history of hockey in the city going back to the first team, the Toledo Mercurys, who played their first season in 1947-48. Other iterations included the Blades, the Hornets, the Goaldiggers and the Storm. For a short time, in 1949-50, the team was actually called the Toledo Buckeyes.
