TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Toledo police made a big arrest Thursday, getting a wanted man and several guns off the street.

Police had a search warrant for a known gang location, but their search led officers to much more than just drugs.

Seven handguns and one shotgun were seized from a house on Joffre Avenue in central Toledo. Police say the weapons were sophisticated and dangerous; some of the pistols had laser sights.

Police say our streets are safer now, after getting these guns out of the wrong hands.

"Typically, these aren't the type of things you see gangbangers toting around. So it was a little concerning from that point, just to know how heavily armed this location was and the kind of weaponry that was there," explained Sgt. Joe Heffernan with the Toledo Police Department.

Police arrested Anthony Rogers, 59, and charged him with drug trafficking, attempting to commit an offense, among other charges. Rogers is being held at the Lucas County Jail awaiting arraignment.
