BBB Alert: Free items from charities guilt you into donating

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Better Business Bureau always warn consumers that charities which send them "free" merchandise are often wasting precious donation dollars, but many charities still send junk to make folks feel obligated. It works.

The latest "free junk" from two charities has completely shocked the BBB.

BBB Standards say that charities should spend a minimum of 65% of donations on services.

Many charities send packages of junk that waste many thousands of donation dollars. Envelope name stickers, plastic letter openers and other junk make people feel obligated. These items are free gifts. You do not need to pay for them.

The Native American Children's Fund of Oklahoma and Helping Hungry Children of Washington, D.C. have completely shocked the BBB.  They send a fake "hand written" note claiming families are so poor the children "don't even have underpants."

Don't waste your money on charities that send junk that you just throw out!
