GE FirstBuild micro-factory to be housed on UofL campus

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - General Electric is looking to a local university to keep the company on the cutting edge of innovation.

The company announced its FirstBuild micro-factory will be built on the University of Louisville Belknap Campus.

The micro-factory will allow students to conduct research while receiving practical training. GE will also invite the public to come inside to use the space to help develop parts for its appliances.

The space will include a showroom along with metal and woodworking shops.

UofL will invest $1.3 million to renovate the space which is scheduled to open in the summer.
