Governor announces 500 jobs coming to Henrico

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

A new customer service center is coming to Henrico, bringing in 500 jobs to the area.

The governor announced on Wednesday that Teleperformance would be expanding in Central Virginia.

Teleperformance serves companies around the world with customer care, technical support, customer acquisition and debt collection programs. The company has about 20,000 employees, 700 of which will be employed in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

It's one of the biggest job announcements Henrico has had so far.  "In a struggling economy 500 new jobs is significant and they're good paying jobs," says Suzanne Clark with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership.

A new customer service center will soon open up in the old Allianz building on North Parham Road.  According to economic leaders, employees will be answering calls for a national company, but the name of that company is not being released.

It's a $3.5 million investment.

"I think in the case of Teleperformance, Henrico County offered a facility that met their needs, that would allow them to be up and running quickly and I also think an abundance workforce," says Clark.

The company's website says it specializes in customer care, technical support and debt collection programs and has locations in 62 countries.  This will be the second location in Virginia.

"Virginia offers the resources that businesses need to compete in today's global environment," says Clark.

Multiple calls to Teleperformance's media contacts were not returned in time for this deadline, but we did find a link to send in your resume to the company.
