TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The man accused of killing his ex-wife in February faced a judge for the first time Friday morning.

On Thursday, police arrested Ronald Boaston, 41, for the murder of Brandi Gonyer-Boaston, 28.  Gonyer-Boaston was found in a running car parked in a Fulton County field. Police say she was murdered in the city of Toledo and taken to Fulton County, where hunters later found her. The coroner ruled the cause of death as asphyxiation.

During Boaston's arraignment, bond was set at $1 million with no 10 percent.

His next courtroom appearance has been scheduled for April 21, because he did not have an attorney.

"It's not closure. He took from me what I can't get back. He can't give that back to me," said Cindey Gonyer, Brandi's mother.

"She loved her job, and her kids were her life," said Deanna Jones, Brandi's sister. "Right now our main concern is her kids, and taking care of them, making sure that – they are our main priority right now."

After proceedings finished inside the courtroom, family members of the victim and the accused argued loudly on the steps of the courthouse.

A memorial fund has been set up for Brandi Gonyer-Boaston. Donations can be made at any Huntington bank and will go toward funeral costs and care for her six children.
