The Indians lost their first series at home in 2014, falling in the rubber match to Minnesota 10-7.
Missed opportunities doomed the Tribe offense. In the sixth inning they had the bases loaded with one out, but Yan Gomes hit into an inning ending double play. The seventh inning saw runners at first and second with one out, but Nick Swisher and Jason Kipnis both popped up to end the scoring opportunity. In the eighth inning they put runners on first and second with nobody out before Ryan Raburn hit into a double play and Gomes grounded out. Cleveland stranded 12 runners over all.
Minnesota took advantage of an off day out of Justin Masterson, they tagged him for seven hits and six runs (five earned), they also drew three walks. Masterson did not make it out of the fourth, but did not suffer the loss. Blake Wood was saddled with the decision after three times off him in the sixth inning, breaking a 6-6 tie.
The Indians fell to 3-3 with the loss, their home stand continues Monday when they face San Diego.
