2 suspects lead police on chase in stolen car, Hamilton teen arrested

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A 17-year-old has been arrested after stealing a vehicle and leading police on a short chase through Fairfield Township.

Fairfield Police say several car break-ins and thefts were reported on Wednesday morning. Several residents that live on Hamilton-Mason Drive reported that their vehicles had been entered and rummaged through overnight. All of the vehicles were unlocked.

Police say that several items were stolen from the vehicles and two of the vehicles had their steering columns tampered with.

A 2011 Nissan Maxima was also stolen from the 3000 block of Hamilton-Mason Road.

Authorities say that they spotted the stolen vehicle around 4 a.m. Thursday morning. The vehicle was spotted traveling northbound on Turley Road.

Officers say they attempted to stop the vehicle. However, the vehicle refused to stop and fled from officers.

Police say they pursued the vehicle into Hamilton where both passengers of the vehicle bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers say the suspects fled on Paoli Avenue.

Police apprehended the 17-year-old male passenger, identified as a Hamilton, Ohio male, who resisted arrest. Both officers sustained minor cuts and scratches. 

The juvenile suspect later admitted to his role in the car break-ins and motor vehicle theft that occurred on Hamilton-Mason Road the day before. 

Investigators are following up on leads regarding the alleged driver, who remains at large.
