TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Toledo couple whose long-lasting love has gone viral celebrated their platinum anniversary at a party on Saturday night.

John and Lauretta "Honey" Myers have been married for 70 years.

A Facebook page was set up for anyone wanting to send them a card of congratulations, and more than 600 cards came rolling in through the mail from around the world.

The Myers have two children, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, with another on the way.

When asked what the secret to a successful marriage is, the couple knew just what to say.

"I think I figured it out. My family. And all the things that we do," said Honey. "Things that we do for each other and the kids."

WTOL 11 first introduced you to the couple and the remarkable longevity of their marriage was posted on the Facebook page of our sister station, WFIE in Evansville, Indiana. Their post is approaching 1.5 million "likes," and has been shared by nearly 70,000 people.

John and Honey were shocked by the popularity of their anniversary story. Watch their reaction here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClxyKNcKi50.

The Myers also received a proclamation of congratulations from Toledo mayor D. Michael Collins.
