Monclova Township adds drug take back bin

MONCLOVA TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Residents of Monclova Township now have a place to dispose of their unused or expired prescriptions.

The township has placed a green drop-off bin inside the Monclova Township Fire Department.

Unused pills can be dangerous in the hands of minors. Leaders say disposing of the drugs can help prevent abuse, and keeps potentially harmful substances out of steams and bodies of water.

The township fire chief says the bin is available more often than other ways of getting rid of pills.

"Twice a year they're still doing the take backs, but there's medication that's sitting in cabinets in between that time and this giving them the opportunity to properly dispose in between that time," said Fire Chief Kevin Bernhard.

Pills can be dropped off at the department during normal business hours, Monday through Friday.
