The weather has prompted more problems with the power.

"Something burst and everything around here went dark," says Cindy Richards of Grafton. "I'm pretty high and I could see everything. I don't know what happened. It was really big. Something blew up."

Richards, in Lorain County is a customer of the Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative. A recording outgoing message tells 19 Action News that crews have been alerted to the outage and are working to restore service. They do not have an estimated time when power will be back on. Close to 200 customers were affected there and another 150 in Lake County.

In Brook Park, our photojournalist Mike Brown reported that he witnessed a green flash while driving through and then everything went dark. A check of the First Energy website shows that 3,400 customers in Cuyahoga County are without power. 500,000 are served there.

Meanwhile the communities of Berea, Fairview Park, Brunswick and Garfield Heights have issued parking bans that are in effect. Snow plow drivers will need to make their way through and safely clear the streets.

As for the sleet and snow that blast of winter has finally subsided. Still expect another 1-3 inches to accumulate in the overnight hours.
