TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

There's still time to help a west Toledo family that is trying to win a wheelchair-accessible van.

Last month we told you about Kathy Houstin, who has entered an online contest to try to win a van for her kids Amber and Lucas.

Amber and Lucas both have cerebral palsy.

Kathy has registered for the nationwide, contest by "Life Moving Forward," part of national mobility awareness month.

The siblings have over 1,200 votes so far but need the votes to keep coming.

The top 4 finishers in the contest will win a van.

"We really need to catch up on votes so we need people to log on every day and vote for Amber and Luke," said Kathy.

"They deserve it. They are very sweet, both of them are. And they really need that opportunity to be out in the community," said Birks.

To vote for Lucas and Amber, visit http://www.mobilityawarenessmonth.com/entrant/lucas-and-amber-houstin-toledo-oh/. Register on the right hand side of the site, then click vote.

You can vote once per day until May 9.

Lucas and Amber need the community's help to win a wheelchair accessible van to get them to doctors appointments, visit family they haven't seen in years, or the Toledo Zoo or the mall.

"I'm sure they are bored, laying at home all day. I'm sure they would like to go places and do fun things like anybody else would," said mother Kathy Houstin.

Lucas and Amber only get out of the house twice a week, for what they call "day-hab," when they are picked up by a bus.

That service is not always available, and the family doesn't have the money to buy a van of their own.

"A higher functioning client can get into a car or you could life them to get them in there. But because they have both had spinal surgery, they need to be in a special handicapped van that can accommodate both electrical chairs," said Robin Birks, Lucas and Amber's nurse.
