Allergy season is here, so what can you do to keep the sniffles away? ProMedica's allergy experts have tips to keep you healthy.

If you have to be outside to walk the dog or water plants, the best time of day to do it is between 4:00 and 10:00 a.m. That is when pollen count is the lowest.

When the weather warms up pollen becomes more of an issue for allergy sufferers, but there is good news. ProMedica specialists say if the winter before brings a hard frost, like we have seen in our area, allergy season shouldn't be as bad.

If you're constantly battling allergies every spring, experts warn to take medicine daily until you start to notice your symptoms go away.

March through May is tree pollen season. A good way to keep these allergies at bay is simply take a shower.

"Pollen is really sticky so it sticks to you, your hair, your face, everything. So the best thing once you've been outside for quite a while after that run or walk, take a shower," said Kathe Cooper who is an RN at ProMedica.

A quick rinse and clean clothes will help get pollen off of you. For more information and simple steps you can take to have an allergy free spring, click here.
