MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Emily English, the Maumee High School student who was asking for a very special gift for her 16th birthday has reached her fundraising goal of $1,000.

English was asking for donations for charity instead of traditional birthday gifts.

She plans to split the money between her two favorite charities - the Lucas County Pit Crew and Angels with Misplaced Wings.

She says she loves animals and has fostered 50 different ones so far

She recently received the 50th foster pup, jellybean.

"I just feel so blessed that people will take the money that they earn at their jobs to donate to my fundraiser birthday donation," said English.

English says the charities deal with stray or disabled dogs, and she is hoping this money will help with the cost of vet bills, food and toys.
