Girl Scouts get $10,000 from State Farm

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo Public Schools' Young Women of Excellence received their pins on Wednesday, officially becoming Girl Scouts of America. At the same event, State Farm presented the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio with a $10,000 check.

"One of the things that we wanted to do was invest the presence of girl scouts to the leadership of women and particularly in central city. And so, our group regarding Young Women of Excellence and working with the Girl Scouts of America has been a great fit," TPS Superintendent Dr. Romules Durant said at the event.

"Girls here are now all members and they helped subsidize those membership fees. And, we will continue with the girls and provide them every opportunity they can to develop these life skills to be successful, not only academically but in life," said Girl Scouts of American Director of Regional Services Angela Tennaro.
