New BG Coach 'waiting his whole life for this moment'

(Toledo News Now) -

New BG basketball coach Chris Jans has been waiting his whole life for this moment

"I've been waiting for this day for a long time," said Jans. "It was everything that I imagined."

After more than 20 years of coaching in basketball, Jans is now a Division 1 head coach. As it turns out, he was the coach BG athletic director Chris Kingston wanted all along.

"I recruited Chris," said Kingston. "When I put down all the things we needed and all we wanted, Chris fit."

Kingston loved what Jans helped do in his 7 years at Wichita State. In that time, Jans helped the Shockers become a school to reckon with. If it happened there, the falcons hope it can happen here .

Jans knows there's a lot of work ahead but he truly believes he can turn the Falcons into a basketball powerhouse.

"I'm not going to sit here and try to compare this place to Wichita State," said Jans.  "My mantra is to try and make the BGSU men's basketball program, the best basketball program it can be."
