Police often face danger in their daily duties, but Thursday into Friday of this week Toledo police were a repeat target.

Three Toledo police officers received medical attention after three separate incidents in a 24-hour period. Now two men are facing charges of assaulting a police officer, and another for resisting arrest according to Toledo police.

Police say one officer was spat on by the suspect Christian Hooks while being taken into custody on Action Drive in South Toledo.

A short time later on Broadway, also in South Toledo, police say Kevin Brown Senior kicked and punched officers while being detained, injuring one of the arresting officers.

Finally on Franklin and Botavia, police say Adrian Winter had a gun. TPD say they tried apprehending him and one officer's hand was cut on the metal mouthpiece, or grill, in Winter's mouth.

"These are all risks we take. Our guys train to use the least amount of force while making arrests. Our officers are good at that. They don't want to engage in fighting. It's dangerous for them and the suspect," said Joe Heffernan, Toledo Police Department.

Assaulting a police officer is usually classified as a felony offense, meaning these men are looking at up to a year in prison and a large fine.
