"I am so excited that you all did this for me. I was worried I was gonna cry," said teacher Allyson Chick.

Richland third grade teacher Allyson Chick and Principal Sharon McNary were both inducted into the University of Memphis Alumni Hall of Fame.

"I'm just so lucky very , very blessed I feel so strongly 53 so blessed to be the principal of this school," said McNary.

Students cheered as McNary, who was celebrating her birthday, was recently recognized as a National Distinguished Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals.

Meanwhile, Chick is the 2013 Tennessee Teacher of the Year selected by the Department of Education.

"What makes me feel special? Coming to teach at Ridgeland every single day, so I love that you are all here today, but I really, really love is teaching," she said.

County leaders and 800 students showed up to show their support while Pouncer took advantage of photo opportunities, passing along his Tiger fever to University of Memphis fans.

"We are Memphis fans all the way. Then after Memphis, Richland," said McNary.
