Mental Health First Aid classes to be offered in Wood County

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

BowlingGreen Municipal Court judges and staff will soon undergo training on how tospot and help those suffering from mental illness, and the public is invited tojoin.

Thetraining, called mental health first aid, will educate participants on how tospot a mental health crisis.

"Say I work as a receptionist and there issomeone in the waiting room having a mental health crisis or some sort of issue.This area will help you interact with that person more appropriately," saidNAMI Wood County Executive Director Jessica Schmitt.

"[Participants will learn] to reach out andhelp their neighbors to get the treatment that we know works and we also knowthat people recover," said Wood County Alcohol Drug Addiction and Mental HealthServices Board Executive Director Tom Clemons.
