(WMC-TV) - As drones become more popular, people around the Mid-South are starting to test out the devices.

This week, Action News 5 received an email from a viewer in Olive Branch who has been flying his drone around the area for a couple of months with a camera.

Jeff Pfeifer received mixed reviews from neighbors, but most of them have been fascinated with the shots he has captured from thousands of feet in the air.

"Went over here to the new hospital and took some pictures of it. It's pretty fun to look at, fun to fly," he said.

He has taken it over the city, his neighborhood, and even above the I-269 construction for a birds eye view of the progress with his GoPro camera attached, but safety is a priority

"You want to stay away from planes and other areas where you might distract a driver, things like that," said Pfeifer. "A lot of these drones can go up in the air as much as 3,000 feet ... You start to lose track of it, because of how high it is."

Privacy concerns are on the minds of some when it comes to eyes in the sky, but for the most part Pfeifer's neighbors have been more fascinated than anything.

"Other people have said, 'Hey, my dog's barking,' and I understand that. You try to be a good guy and not disturb people if it bothers them," he said.

Pfeifer's drone has only been in Mississippi, but he is ready to take it across state lines and see Memphis from 3,000 feet while he is safely anchored on the ground.

"I want to get to downtown Memphis, I think some skyline and some bridge pictures down there would be really pretty," he said.
