Horry Co. deputies help Union Co. Sheriff find man wanted for meth

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Sheriff's deputies often cross county lines to search for a suspect, but it's uncommon for the sheriff himself to head to town and look for someone. But that's what happened earlier this week in the search for Jody Lynn Rector.

Union County Sheriff David Taylor is determined to catch 32-year-old Jody Lynn Rector, and he believes he may be in the Grand Strand.

Rector is wanted for possession of methamphetamine and illegal tattooing.

Back on March 3, authorities say they found a bag with a gram of meth, two glass pipes, propane fuel containers, digital scales and tattooing equipment in his Union home along with another suspect who says she has been hooked on meth for several months.

Tips from the Upstate led the sheriff to an apartment complex on Pinewood Drive North in Surfside Beach where they believe he has been staying with a friend. But Rector wasn't there.

The Horry County Sheriff's Office is assisting in the search.

"We are a few days, I think, behind him but that doesn't mean anything. He could be in the Loris area, Myrtle Beach area or he could have very well fled back to the Upstate thinking Union is not watching him anymore," says Sgt. Jeff Benton, spokesman for the Horry County Sheriff's Office.

Rector has been entered in the national criminal database, and a warrant was signed by an Horry County judge on March 10 to make bringing him in easier.

If you have seen Jody Lynn Rector, contact the Horry County Sheriff's Office.
