Murder suspect wants to withdraw confession, change plea

A Swanton man accused of murder was back in front of a judge Thursday morning -- to change his plea.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A Swanton man accused of murder was back in front of a judge Thursday morning -- to change his plea.

David Zielinski pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the killing of his ex-wife's boyfriend back in July 2013. Police say Zielinski shot Michael Jackson six times and stabbed him twice while he slept in his apartment. Police say Zielinski also shot at his estranged wife.

Thursday's hearing was scheduled because Zielinski wanted to take back his confession. He changed his plea to not guilty, and was found competent to stand trial.

His trial is scheduled to begin April 28.
