State Championship hockey game ends in tie, teams named co-champs

COLUMBUS, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Ohio state championship hockey game between Sylvania Northview and Cleveland St. Ignatius was called after the 7th overtime period on Saturday after neither team was able to make the decisive goal.

Both teams were named co-champions.

The decision was made by OHSAA commissioner Dan Ross and the athletic directors of each school.

The game was tied 1-1 when it was called.

Toledo News Now's Jordan Strack says the Northview players were upset with the decision and wanted to play.

The game was the longest Ohio state championship hockey game ever, and the second longest hockey game in state history
