Volunteers needed for supervised child visitation

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Toledo Children's Rights Council says 20 mothers or fathers are on a waiting list to be able to see their children because of a lack of volunteers.

The center allows parents who the court has ordered be supervised while visiting their children to do so thanks to the help of a volunteer. Supervision is often ordered because of a pending allegation.

The center is short on volunteers, forcing the waiting list. Leaders say volunteering can be a rewarding experience.

"It very important when they see their parent come in for the first time in a long time and they run into their arms. There are not a lot of dry eyes in the room," said Margaret Wuwert with the council.

The center is looking for 15 to 20 volunteers. For more information about how you can help, call 419-473-8955.
